Restored through Christ
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel ~ Genesis 3:15 NIV
God created Adam whole, meaning he was not missing anything, but when he fell, he lost everything. God, however, through the glorification of Jesus Christ, restored everything back to man. To restore is to receive back more than has been lost to the point where the final state is greater than the original. Jesus, through his life, suffering, death, burial, resurrection and ascension has secured for us all that Adam lost. Through his death, everything that was lost in the Garden through sin was restored back, and we are delivered from sin and all the death it brings with it.
In the above scripture, God meant that the woman’s offspring (Jesus) will take away Satan’s authority. God gave His only son to come and save the world so that whoever believes in Him may not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16) and through His death on the cross, He took Satan’s authority which Adam had surrendered to him and returned it to every person who believes in Him, not only believe that Jesus died for him, but also believe that Satan has lost authority over him. Therefore, whoever has Jesus has life and death is defeated in his life. Jesus, in John 10:10 says that the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy, but He came so that we may have life and have it in abundance.
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace ~ Ephesians 1:7 NIV
The blood of Jesus gives us access to God and the cost of Calvary was a bridge to connect us back to God. Man had become the enemy of God, but by the power of the cross, he is now His friend (Colossians 1:21-22). Through the blood of Jesus, we enter into a new covenant with God. When Jesus said, ‘it is finished’, he was referring to the Abrahamic covenant being available to everyone who by faith believes in him.
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit ~ Galatians 3:13-14 NIV
The blood of Jesus has power. It destroyed the curse, removed the sin which separated us from God and released the blessing over all people. It equips us to overcome the enemy and to live victorious lives. It also gives us access to the authority of Heaven. As believers, we must grasp the significance of the power of the blood of Jesus as well as how to appropriate it in our lives. Doing so positions us to experience the reality of the blessing that Jesus died to give us. We cannot realize who we really are unless and until we allow ourselves to be reconciled back to God through Christ Jesus. This is the starting point, there is no shortcut and there is no other way. This is the solution God has given us and we must accept and embrace it.
There is more to our redemption than just being forgiven our sins. There is a life of victory that God wants for all of us now, and until we understand and operate in our rightful positions if authority and dominion over the enemy and all his works, it is going to be difficult for us to live victoriously on earth. Through Jesus Christ, we have life, victory and a new level of experience in Him. Through Him, we receive God’s divine rest which allows us to operate and do things in a new way without much struggle.
