Why you shouldn’t allow God to let you have your own way

It may surprise you to know that it’s actually possible to ‘force’ God to do something for you. This happens when we press God so much that He has no choice but to let us have our way, and it’s usually borne from a rebellious and disobedient heart.
So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have.” But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. And the Lord told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king ~ 1 Samuel 8:4-7 NIV
It was not the will of God for the nation of Israel to have a human king. God was their King. But they rebelled against Him and rejected Him. Not only did they reject Him, but also demanded for a king to rule over them so that they may be like other nations. God allowed them to have what they wanted, but it became a snare for them. Likewise for many of us, there are things God warned us against, but we insisted on having them or doing things our way. Many relationships, marriages, businesses, careers, decisions have been made and done without God’s wisdom and guidance and have become a snare to those involved. Some of these things happen because we think we know better, but in most cases, we end up being trapped by the enemy. You should be very careful not to allow God to let you have your own way; it is going to be regrettable.
God will always oppose those who oppose Him. Many of us are stuck here because we are busy trying to fight God. Though we may think that we know what is best for us, we must exercise caution and instead allow God to lead us. The children of God are nursing frustrations in their lives because they’ve insisted so much on having things their own way until God has no choice but to let them have it. We must be careful to guard our hearts above everything else and not to allow them reject God or depart from Him because this is what will happen;
When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, but the Lord will not answer you in that day.” ~ 1 Samuel 8:18 NIV
But since you refuse to listen when I call and no one pays attention when I stretch out my hand, since you disregard all my advice and do not accept my rebuke, I in turn will laugh when disaster strikes you; I will mock when calamity overtakes you—when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you. “Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me, since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord. Since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes ~ Proverbs 1:24-31 NIV
The moment your heart rejects God, you dethrone Him and give His rightful position to someone or something else and once this happens, you invite trouble to take over.
There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death ~ Proverbs 14:12 NIV
