Born for a purpose

One unique thing about God is that He doesn’t do things for the sake of it; He always has a purpose and reason for everything He does. This means that if He has allowed you to be in existence today: in this age, era and time, there is a reason for it. Tragedy strikes if and when humanity decides to live carelessly and in ignorance of their existence. Many of our minds have been manipulated into thinking that God doesn’t care or that our existence doesn’t matter to Him. And this kind of mindset has dragged so many into the pit of limitations, destruction, bondages and purposeless life.

One of the things we need to come to terms with is that we do not own ourselves. You, as a person, no matter who you are and where you come from; no matter where you are in life or how highly or lowly you think of yourself; no matter how you see and perceive God and whether or not you acknowledge Him and His existence, you do not own yourself. Your beginning is in God and at the end of it all, you will have to answer to Him. He is the one that has allowed your existence. The very breath of life in you is from Him and until you come to terms with that, you will always be living life the way you want and in your own terms and this alone is a path that will eventually lead to your destruction.

Now, the fact that God has allowed you to be in existence today means that you have a purpose because as I have said, He doesn’t do things for the sake of it. Your existence matters to Him, and there is a purpose for it. Let us explore some scriptures here for a better understanding.

Israel was under the power of the Philistines for some forty years because they had disobeyed the Lord. In His mercy and compassion, He wanted to deliver them and so He showed up in the house of a man by the name Manoah. This man had a wife, but she was barren and had no children. Here is what happened; And the Angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her, “Indeed now, you are barren and have borne no children, but you shall conceive and bear a son. Now, therefore, please be careful not to drink wine or similar drink, and not to eat anything unclean. For behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. And no razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb; and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.” ~ Judges 13:3-5 NKJV

Israel was in a mess and even though there were so many people existing in the land at that time, there was no one that God could use to deliver them from the hand of the Philistines. What God did was to open up the womb of the wife of Manoah, to carry a seed that would eventually become Israel’s deliverer. The thing about purpose is that you are born with it. It’s not something you go looking for or begin to pray and ask God to enable you to have; you are born with it. Samson’s purpose was to deliver Israel from the Philistines – it was his real reason for existence. His birth could not have occurred before this or after this season because it would have been meaningless. God ensured that His birth was delayed until a time when he was needed. His parents may had given up and concluded that there was no hope for them to nurse their own baby, but God had it all planned out.

Purpose is all about providing and or giving solutions to people. There is always a problem that need to be solved and all you need is to identify that problem you were created to solve and bring a solution, because everyone has a special niche. The world and people in general are in dire need of solutions and believe it or not, you are a carrier of one or more of those solutions. You only need to know what you carry. Just like Samson was the solution Israel needed so much, you are the solution the world is desperately looking and waiting for.

You may begin to think that Samson’s birth was prophetic and well defined since inception, and that yours was not like it and maybe you do not have a purpose. But allow me to intercept your thinking and let you know that it is God who defines your reason for existence. Your birth may have been an accident and maybe your parents have made it clear that you were never needed, and rejection may have become the order of the day in your life, but this doesn’t mean that you are without a purpose. The only reason why you are living a purposeless life is entirely because of you. God is always ready to show you who you really are and what you carry. He is always ready and willing to unveil you to the world, but you must allow Him to get involved in your life. The reason why your purpose is hidden from you is because you have not actively sought to know what it is from your creator. Nobody is a mistake or useless before God.

Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” ~ Jeremiah 1:4-5 NKJV

This was God talking to Jeremiah. He was just a young man going on with his life without any idea of his reason for existence, until God came calling. His birth may have been a normal birth, his upbringing as well, but God knew that he was a prophet to the nations. Moses was also living his life as a shepherd until God showed up and defined his purpose. If you fail to allow God to define your purpose in life, you will never find fulfillment in life and you will live contrary to what God created you for.
