Renew your Mind
God had originally created man to live in a perfect environment where he could do and accomplish all He wanted Him to, but sin corrupted it. Paul said to the Romans that human beings did not retain the knowledge of God in their minds and that is why they were corrupt. If our minds are full of corrupted information, our lives will be corrupted too. If the source of our thoughts is not correct, our thoughts are incorrect and our conclusions and beliefs are erratic, defective and contaminated. The result is a life of error and limitations.
The quality of life you live is directly proportional to the quality of the food you feed your mind. What you input is what you output. You don’t feed your mind with trash and expect to be productive. If you want to know who you really are and live the kind of life God created you to live, you must feed your mind the right information. You must be ready and willing to correct what you have heard and accumulated in your mind throughout the years. Why? Because most of what you have in your mind – that which you have heard, embraced, accommodated and accepted to be true has negatively affected your self-image and influenced your life negatively. Your thoughts and beliefs generally come from what you internalize from your environment; you become what you learn, listen to and take in or meditate on. This is what programs our minds and makes us think as we think of ourselves. According to Dr. Myles Munroe, “personal belief is a manual for operating your mind. Your belief system molds your mind and forms the bulk of you.”
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he ~ Proverbs 23:7a NKJV
You might have grown up with wrong beliefs in your mind, which have greatly influenced your life in a negative and limiting way. And the truth is that you cannot rise above the plane of your mental conditioning. To change your life, you must renew your mind.
The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace ~ Romans 8:6
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will ~ Romans 12:2
You must discover the truth of God because only through it will you get transformed. Truth will free you from any form of error, false information and corruption. If you fail to erase, delete and replace the old information with the new (God’s word), you will remain on the same level and never live to fulfil God’s plans for your life.
A mind devoid of God’s truth is a mind full of ‘death’. This means that whatever will emanate from such a mind will bring nothing but ‘death’ into our lives. So what do we need? We need the original knowledge from God. One of the major reasons why Satan succeeded in deceiving Eve was because he manipulated the word of God to his advantage. He gave Eve corrupted word. What God had given man was original knowledge, but the enemy manipulated it for his own selfish reasons, and he still does it today. Many of us may think that we have the right information, but we may be shocked to learn that what we have is manipulated information. We need God’s original knowledge for us to be able to function as we were originally meant to. This means that unless we receive the original knowledge from God of who we really are, we will only exist but lack real life.
